I paint what moves me.

I am Hedwig Karmios, an artist inspired by curiosity, life, and the desire to move through the world with open eyes.

Color has fascinated me for as long as I can remember. Today, it has become my personal language. In my 3D works, mixed-media pieces, and paintings using acrylic, wax, and watercolor, I combine vibrant colors with expressive, abstract forms and different materials.

I do not plan my works in advance. I begin and allow myself to be guided by the moment. A thought, a color, a feeling, or an observation can become the starting point. As I work, the artwork develops its own direction and character.

I find inspiration in nature, the changing seasons, the environment, and life itself. My children, grandchildren, friends, travels, and everyday encounters continually open new perspectives for me. At the same time, I am drawn to subjects that deeply move me – from the beauty and vulnerability of our environment to social issues such as violence and abuse against women.

My art is intentionally diverse. I do not want to limit myself to a single subject, because life itself is diverse. What connects my work is my use of strong colors, an expressive visual language, and the desire to make something happen within the viewer.

I want my art to touch people, bring them joy, encourage them to pause and think, and perhaps even inspire action.

And sometimes, I simply hope to create that one special moment:

Wow.

I sign my works with HK, my personal calligraphic signature.

HK stands for Hedwig Karmios.

For my handwriting.

For my art.
